Are you ready to launch your career in one of the world’s most dynamic industries? The Oldendorff Singapore Trainee Programme is a two-year rotational programme designed to give you a 360-degree view of the dry bulk shipping industry. You’ll rotate through key departments, gaining hands-on experience in Operations, Chartering, Bunkers, Freight Trading, and more.
From learning the ropes of vessel operations to negotiating freight contracts, this programme will challenge you, inspire you, and set you on course for a long-term career in shipping. You’ll work alongside industry experts, build a strong global network, and even spend time onboard one of our vessels to get firsthand experience of life at sea.

Singapore—one of the world’s leading maritime hubs!
As an Oldendorff Trainee, you’ll be based in our Singapore office, where you’ll experience the fast-paced world of global shipping. Our Singapore team operates at the heart of the industry, working across international markets and time zones.
Throughout the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with teams across the world and, depending on the role, may also travel for training, business meetings, or vessel visits.

A degree in Maritime Studies, Economics, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Singapore – a global hub for maritime research and trade.
As a Research Trainee, you’ll be based in our Singapore office, one of the world’s key maritime and trading hubs. Here, you’ll be at the heart of global shipping trends, working alongside top analysts in an industry that never stands still.
Throughout the programme, you’ll rotate through different business units within the Research Department, gaining firsthand experience in freight markets, commodity flows, and economic forecasting. While the program is based in Singapore, you’ll collaborate with international teams and may have opportunities to travel, depending on rotation schedules.

The Advanced Trainee Program (ATP) is a two-year program designed for those looking to build in-depth expertise in Shipping Operations. This isn’t just about learning from a desk—you’ll start your journey by sailing onboard one of our vessels for 2–3 months, gaining firsthand experience of life at sea and observing ship operations in action.
After your time onboard, you’ll rotate through key departments, building a solid foundation in commercial dry bulk shipping. The Operations department will be at the heart of your traineeship, where you’ll spend at least 8 months learning how to commercially operate a vessel hands-on.
Hamburg & Lübeck, Germany – the heart of Oldendorff's operations. Your traineeship will begin at sea, giving you a rare opportunity to experience ship operations up close. Once back on shore, you’ll be based in our Hamburg and Lübeck offices, where you’ll work alongside industry professionals and gain real-world exposure to the business side of shipping.
