In 2015 Oldendorff Carriers expanded from its Lubeck headquarters by setting up a commercial office in Hamburg. This expansion has proved a success and the company sees the advantage of having more offices in shipping centres. Oldendorff currently has offices in 17 locations around the world which all work together in a global network.
Executive & Board Director Jens Jacobsen will head the new Copenhagen office with an initial team of 8-10 people. The new Oldendorff office will be located in the maritime cluster in Hellerup just north of Copenhagen.
The office is expected to grow to include a full range of support services but will initially have chartering, operations, marine accounting and vetting. Oldendorff will relocate a number of people to Copenhagen but will also be looking to draw on the dry bulk shipping pool of talent in Scandinavia for further expansion.
Oldendorff Carriers is a family owned dry bulk shipping company normally operating a fleet of over 600 vessels. The fleet ranges in size from Handysize (35,000 tdw) up to Newcastlemax (210,000 tdw). In 2013, the company embarked on a newbuilding program with over 50 eco ships under construction or delivered. In 2016 the company took delivery of 13 eco newbuildings and purchased an additional 20 modern bulk carriers at attractive prices.
