We built our Eco Ultramax vessels at 4 yards in Japan and China. They feature economical engines and fuel saving devices like the Mewis duct and rudder bulb. All vessels are fitted with 4 x 30/35 tons cranes and grabs, A-60 bulkheads, Co2 in holds and increased tanktop strength.
The Becker Mewis Duct and the rudder bulb are power-saving devices providing fuel savings and reduced greenhouse gasses. The Mewis Duct enhances the flow of water to the propeller to increase thrust. The rudder bulb is an additional power saving device which changes the hub vortex to streamline the water flow behind the propeller. These two “eco features” produce a fuel savings of 5-8%.
Fitted with a Wärtsilä low-speed-rt-flex50-D main engine, these vessels have high fuel-efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The ME-B engine is MAN Diesel & Turbo’s most modern, two-stroke design whose ‘.2’ suffix indicates a new, fuel-optimised version that complies with IMO Tier-II emissions legislation.
